Sourwood Festival Black Mountain North Carolina
August 11 - August 13
It’s time for the 41st Annual Sourwood Festival in beautiful Black Mountain. This historic small town in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina comes alive each year with a wholesome, down-home celebration of Appalachian culture and heritage. Music, dance, arts, crafts, and plenty of food from BBQ to vegetarian dishes, seem to be around every corner in downtown Black Mountain. Kid’s rides, games, face painting, and other family-friendly events in a no alcohol environment ensure a safe and fun experience for the whole family.
Over 30,000 people from all over the country are expected this year and with over 200 vendors and their unique works, the festival promises to be one of the year’s premier arts and crafts destinations. But the real stars of this event are the honey bees and the sourwood honey. The honey and bee demonstrations combine some interesting information, nature, and delicious gourmet honey into one special event. So if you and your family are looking for some authentic mountain celebrations, you can’t miss this free summer festival.
