For the third year in a row, a unique Christmas event is being offered for free in Minford, Ohio. This light display is unlike anything you have ever seen before! The light festival is held inside of the White Gravel Mines in Minford located Just a short drive east of Cincinnati.

This year’s events began on November 23 and is open every Friday and Saturday between Black Friday and Christmas from 4-10 p.m. The event is free, however, it does cost $2 to park. Donations are also accepted and are used to make the event bigger and better the following year.

On December 8th and 14th, the Christmas Cave will be supplying golf carts for those with disabilities so they don’t miss out on the opportunity to attend this unique event.

The Mile Long Display Is Spectacular

The White Gravel Mine is brought to life with thousands of lights and biblical scenes. The light display is a mile-long system of passageways within the mines.

Once inside the mine, visitors are greeted by a beautiful display of stars and a self-guided tour of Bethlehem. As one

wanders further into the cave you will discover unique Christmas light displays, Christmas trees and more biblical scenes including the birth of Christ. Each biblical scene includes a written information about the biblical moment.

The display is a mile long, but you will find plenty of benches along the way to take a break or just enjoy the beautiful displays. The cave features several mannequins and each one is an original piece of art.

The cave also features a small theater. On Saturdays, you will be treated to live Christmas caroling. At the very end of the adventure, you will find a gift shop where you can purchase souvenirs.

The displays are created by Tom and Mindy Martin and a faithful team dedicated to educating the world about the story of Christmas. The displays include three nativity scenes. This year there are two tunnels  of lights and a new outdoor display.

One of the great things about the cave is it never gets too cold. The inside of the cave and its tunnels stays a mild 55 degrees.

People Have Come As From as Faraway As California

Thousands of people have flocked to the cave the last three years. In 2017, more than 33,000 visitors traveled to enjoy the unique spectacle. The cave has attracted visitors as far away as California.

History of the White Gravel Mines

About the history of the mine; the Warren family began mining the white quartz gravel under the town of Minford at the beginning of the 20th century. The mine was sold to the General Refractories Co. and used for the growing residential and industrial needs in the region. After World War II, the mines were abandoned and soon became a faded memory. In the early 70’s the Warrens sealed the mine opening, but occurrences of vandalism became regular occurrences.

The Christmas Cave is located at 4007 White Gravel McDaniel Road in Minford, Ohio. If you’re looking for a Christmas experience that’s unlike any other then the Christmas Cave is the place to be!
